Washer Settlement

  • Whirlpool Corporation and Sears Roebuck and Co. are the target of a class action lawsuit in regards to certain front-loading washing machines they sold
  • Anyone who bought a Whirlpool, Kenmore or Maytag front-loading washing machine that was manufactured between 2001 and 2010 will want to file a claim in this case
  • Class members contend that these front-loading washing machines

The Washer Settlement class members claim the machines in question did not adequately self-clean after a wash cycle, leaving laundry residue that can result in a buildup of mold or mildew.  The court has approved a settlement of   Any class members who are not happy with the proposed settlement can file an objection by mail (please mail the objection to: Clerk of the Court, Carl B. Stokes U.S. Courthouse, 801 West Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44113).

Class members who qualify for a settlement can choose from the following:

  • A $50 cash payment (available only to certain Class Members who experienced a mold or odor problem within five years of purchase);
  • A cash rebate of either 20 percent or five percent off the retail purchase price of a new washing machine or dryer; or
  • Reimbursement of up to $500 for out-of-pocket expense for repairs or replacements due to a mold or odor problem

Those Washer Settlement class members who fail to file a claim by October 11, 2016 will not be eligible to file a claim for benefits at a later date.  All class members who file timely claims will be represented by Jonathan Selbin, James Rosemergy, and Steven Schwartz… class members will not have to pay for these lawyers as they will instead take a percent of the settlement pot.
